Survival of The Fittest

2 July 2010
I'd like to share about my experience in using public transportation (read:bus). Every Monday morning and usually on Wednesday morning i take a bus to go to Surabaya from my hometown, Mojokerto. It is just an ordinary day when dozens of people are waiting for the bus in the bus shelter inside the bus station.
when the bus come, prepare to fight to get into the crowded bus. And stand up for 20 minutes (if i am lucky enough) or get the seat just 15 min before the hitting place (still lucky, coz sometimes i stand until the destination).
There are things that supposed to be noticed by the bus-taker:
1st, when the bus is crowded, try to get into the middle (inner) part of the bust do not just stand near the exit/entrance door.
2nd, give opportunity for others to find space though it means they might step a bit on your feet.
3rd, tolerate!!
4th, if you sit give space beside your seat so that the "stander" can lean on their arms or back a bit on your seat. (so if you don't want others to lean on your seat, don't sit near the gangway.
5th, be a gentleman (if you're a man), give your seat to the lady, if there are few ladies next to you, give it to the oldest one.
I met a neat, good looking gentleman in the bus and he stood just like i did, but when someone left the seat and get out of the bus, the man took the seat while i was standing next to him. CRUEL!! He's not a real gentleman.
So what law rules the bus passengers? Survival of the Fittest-the nature law
